What is Auditorium? It’s an audio puzzle game, a non-linear Tetris, an online app that really should get into Xbox Live ASAP.

Game play is deceptively simple, as in all the best puzzle games. You control light-rays of sound by moving and extending orbs. Impact on the orbs alters the audio as well as the flow of the sound-rays, and solving a puzzle is simply getting from the origin point of the sound-rays to fill up all the “volume bars” in each level. What’s most interesting is that each puzzle can be solved in more than one way.

You can try it out for free, but be warned you will quickly become addicted. The demo has no save feature, so each time you play you start at the beginning and can only get as far as time & skill allow, but it’s a great way to reset the brain at lunch time.

The full game has 15 audio tracks and a whopping 70 levels of play, as well as a very sexy save feature that will let you bounce back where you last were. It’ll cost you only $10.99, but you pay for it via PayPal, and unfortunately have to receive an activation email to get your full-account access.

You can see why they need to program this gorgeous game to work on Live, where it takes far less effort to get into the game.

It’s that time again. Even in the desert, it’s cooling off and we can all start wearing our favorite clothing items… HOODIES AND SCARVES!

But they cannot be any blah-blah fashion designer item, oh no. We must have Gamer Hoodies and FragScarves(TM totally pending). I didn’t find any good frag scarves, but all the retro finds make me happy.

BitsToDieFor has the most awesome Space Invaders and Pong scarves, made of Merino Wool. Being high fashion items hand-made in Germany, I’ve no idea what the conversion is to dollars, but they happily ship to the US. Only downside is that you’ll actually have to hand wash them. But really, how often do you need to wash a scarf?

UrbanPrincess crochets a Ghost hat and matching PacMan scarf. Best $180 I can think of spending this Halloween. Check out the rest of her store for more gamer-themed goods!

And finally, Jinx has tons of gamer clothing, since that’s basically their thing. I’m fond of the Alliance hoodie, since my best pal will be outraged to see me in non-Horde attire.

More fashion shenanigans to come!

So, being gamers, we used to be kinda bad about eating at our desks. We’ve gotten better, and now cook dinner together and usually enjoy it with a good movie, followed by serious gaming. However, when you’ve slaved over the hot stove for twenty minutes, you don’t wanna slave over some elaborate dessert. Too often, you end up running out to Coldstone (hello, expensive) or grabbing icecream from the grocery store (even more fat onto your butt, woot!).

The other night I was prepping strawberries to be out “good” dessert when he suggested drizzling magic shell all over them. Magic shell is like the stuff that makes a Dairy Queen chocolate-dipped cone have that yummy chocolate shell. We drizzled, stuck the bowls in the freezer and sat down to dinner. A little while after dinner was over we remembered our strawberries, and they were freaking awesome. Some were a little frozen (might be better to put them in the fridge, but we wanted hard shell goodness), but it was so tasty. And so much better than the icecream I normally would’ve put the magic shell on.

It’s not diet food, for sure, but it is a better alternative to the usual junk food desserts I tend to crave. 100 XP points for us.

When we first got our apartment we also got our first proper grown-up furniture. We chose a small loveseat and matching over-size armchair in a lovely cream microsuede, thinking more about how modern & fashionable they’d look in our apartment than how comfortable they’d be. They are pretty comfy if you’re just sitting around, chatting or watching a movie. But they’re not ideal for more relaxed book-reading or gaming poses, and it’s difficult to fit the husband at the same time, since he’s over six feet.

I’m considering alternatives – something comfortable that can endure the presences of rambunctious cats and handle the daily wear & tear of two gamers who often snack and always have a beverage while watching movies or playing an extended session of Lego Batman.

Two possibilities are available - getting a bigger & more comfy traditional couch, or getting an oversized beanbag chair. What do you use in your gaming room?
